A small bathroom tub to shower conversion can make a cramped room feel larger and easier to move around in. In many homes across Old Saybrook, CT, the tub takes up one end of a narrow bathroom, and a shower in the same space can improve how the whole room works.
What the Project Involves
In a typical small bathroom, the shower fits where the tub stood, so the layout stays largely the same. The tub is removed, the drain and supply lines are adjusted, and the shower area is waterproofed before a base, walls, and door are installed.
Design choices matter more in a small space. Clear or frameless glass keeps sightlines open, large tiles or panels reduce visual clutter, and a recessed niche saves room compared with shelves that stick out. A sliding door or fixed panel can avoid a door swing that blocks the vanity or toilet. A working exhaust fan also helps control moisture in small rooms.
When This Option Makes Sense
- The tub is rarely used and takes up valuable floor space.
- The room feels cramped and is hard to clean.
- You want a layout that is easier to move through.
- You are preparing to sell and want a simple, modern bathroom in Old Saybrook, CT.
What Affects the Price
Because the footprint is small, material quantities are usually modest, but costs still depend on the shower base, wall finish, glass, fixtures, and any plumbing changes. Tight spaces can also slow the work down. Pricing for a small bathroom tub to shower conversion depends on the project and a quote. Ask about door options early, because the door type often decides how usable the room feels afterward. Confirm permit and licensing requirements for Old Saybrook, CT before work starts.
